MISSED IT!!!! How NOT to miss your flight.

Have you ever had the pleasure of staying at a hotel that was actually in an airport? Amaaaazing! No half-dazed attempts to remove your shoes going through a TSA screening. No marathon runs towards your concourse with your carry-on punching you in the side, as you bound toward gate D12. Some airports have the added perk of an onsite airport. Here are a few that are on my travel list:

Hilton Chicago O’Hare Airport is the biggest hotel attached to an airport in the USA! It offers 860 rooms, and you can even request a “runway view” room.

Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport offers amenities that include a heated outdoor pool, as well as a track for walking or jogging. A pleasant perk for the inhabitants of the 445-room property.

The Westin Denver International Airport offers amazing views of the Rockies! Guest rave about the breakfast at the onsite restaurant, Grill and Vine at this 519-room property.

I booked my stay at Miami International Airport Hotel because I wanted to be sure not to miss my early morning flight to Barbados. I selected the “Twin Single” room, a room that accommodates one. Usually, rooms are for a minimum of two travelers. This option definitely peaked my curiosity.

My check-in was fast, and I received a voucher for a complimentary made-to-order breakfast at Air Margaritaville, located nearby in the lobby/terminal. I rolled my carry-on toward the elevator, entered, and arrived at my floor. The hallways are narrow, but traffic flows easily both ways. I entered my room with the swipe of my entry key. My room was cozy! The exposed closet easily stored my luggage, and my twin bed was neatly made and adorned with a sage colored blanket. The bed was quite comfortable. I requested an additional blanket and pillow (one was provided) and received right away.

I loved the soundproof windows, I didn’t hear a peep. The wi-fi was great! Perfect for browsing and working simultaneously. The room also included: satellite TV with on-demand movies, telephone with voicemail, Smart Phone docking clock, and a coffee maker. The marble encased sink in the bathroom was a welcome surprise, offering space for my toiletries AND cell phone.

After a good night’s rest, I made my flight with a full stomach. Wheels UP!
